EL CAJON, Calif. -- A teen who said she was harassed by a Christian school teacher described to 10News what happened to her.Nichole Stiles, 17, said her ordeal has been an emotional roller coaster and she wants justice served. Stiles' mother gave consent for her daughter to speak to 10News.Stiles said the harassment began about six months ago. She said her Foothills High School teacher at the time, Evan Stecklair, sent her naked text message pictures of his genitalia.
"I cried, couldn't sleep for three days, couldn't eat. There's no appetite in me anymore," said Stiles.Stiles said before Stecklair sent her the pictures, he inappropriately grabbed her while she practiced playing piano."He said, 'I want to feel your heart,' so he grabbed my heart and then grabbed my breasts and looked into my eyes like he was my boyfriend," said Stiles. In September, Stecklair pleaded guilty to one count of sending harmful material to a minor with the intent to seduce.Stecklair was scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday, but it was pushed to next Monday.Churchgoer Hope Hasan told 10News the day before Stecklair's guilty plea -- and months after the accusations surfaced -- Foothills Christian Church officials announced Stecklair would be leading Bible study again."A few of us girls went to the leader of group and told him we don't feel comfortable with this," said Hasan.Hasan said after the complaints the church took back the offer. However, she said what the church asked her and her friends to do next turned into an uncomfortable situation."They said, 'Don't tell anyone about this. Most people don't know about this,'" said Hasan.Hasan and several other churchgoers support Stiles, and they said the teen has been ostracized by so many for coming forward and telling the truth about what happened to her."Your voice matters regardless of who believes you and who doesn't," said Stiles.10News' Juliette Vara spoke to a pastor at the church, and he could not confirm the allegations that Stecklair was going to lead again. He said he would look into the matter.Stecklair faces up to six months in jail.
