SAN DIEGO -- A cruise ship's plan of leaving San Diego for Cabo San Lucas will not be deterred despite the presence of Hurricane Rick in the area, 10News reported. The Royal Caribbean cruise ship Radiance of the Seas was scheduled leave Monday and arrive in Cabo San Lucas Thursday -- one day after Hurricane Rick is expectedRoyal Caribbean officials told 10News it was monitoring the weather closely, but at this point the stop in Cabo San Lucas will go as planned.
However, some passengers at the cruise ship terminal talked to 10News about the hurricane and were a little concerned."Sounds like it's gonna hit Cabo," said Mary Wong, who's traveling with a group of nine people from Colorado. "Kinda nervous about it, but I think the cruise line would know what to do."Others are taking it all in stride. David Holmblad, from Brunswick, Maine, said he is not worried."At home, it's snowing; I'm not too stressed about it," said Holmblad. If the ship has to avoid Cabo San Lucas because of the storm, there will be stops instead in Los Angeles and Catalina -- a plan that didn't thrill too many people."Who wants to go to LA?" asked Pam Collins of San Mateo, Calif. "We just left San Francisco, but we'll roll with it."The Carnival cruise ship Elation is also leaving San Diego for Mexico Monday, but it's not scheduled to stop in Cabo.
