SAN DIEGO -- Three daughters from San Diego are using the Internet to try and save their father, 10News reported. It's an unusual Craigslist ad to save a much-loved father."He is our hero, but now he needs help; he needs a kidney transplant," said Brittany Meyer.
Brittany placed the ad looking for a kidney donor for her father, Richard Meyer."I would just like the chance to grow old with my girls," said Richard Meyer.Meyer lost his right leg, left toe and kidneys to diabetes, and the single father can no longer work."I connect to the machine, lay here, let it do its business," said Meyer. He spends his nights hooked up to a dialysis machine, and he is in need of a kidney transplant."For San Diego, they quote you 4 to 8 years to get a kidney," said Meyer.Meyer's daughters would give theirs, but 15-year-old Natalie is too young."The second I turn 18, if he doesn't have a kidney, I'll give it to him," said Natalie. The older daughters are not a match, so Brittany turned to Craigslist.Part of Brittany's ad read: "If someone out there wants to help our family, it would be the greatest gift you can give us."Brittany is even willing to swap her kidney with another family in return through an exchange program Sharp Hospital is just beginning."If someone is willing to give my dad a second chance at life, I am more than willing to do that for someone," said Brittany. The response so far is some spam and one real possibility.Brittany said she is not going to let her father down."I'm not hopeful, I'm determined; it's going to happen," said Brittany.
