Preston Phillips

Preston Phillips is an Emmy nominated anchor and investigative reporter, he is also a weathercaster currently completing a second degree in Meteorology.

Preston's career in broadcasting began in 2000 at KABC, while attending Chapman University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism. After interning at KABC, Preston went on to report and produce at KTLA. In April of 2002, Preston's brother was involved in a serious car accident and Preston dedicated the next 4 years to his recovery. In 2006, Preston jumped back into broadcasting, moving to California’s North Coast where he was the main weeknight anchor and reporter for KIEM, (where he met his wife, Ariana Duarte). In October of 2007, Preston hit the road again, this time moving to Fresno, where he anchored, reported and worked as a weathercaster at the NBC affiliate, KSEE. Then, in July of 2009, Preston and Ariana joined the 10News team.

As a reporter, Preston has covered major stories throughout California and Mexico, from destructive wildfires and high-profile murder cases, to real-life stories of inmates behind bars. Preston's most memorable story took him to Juarez, Mexico inside the notorious Cereso Prison, where he followed his exclusive series on an Iraq war vet who faced 30 years on weapons importation charges. After dozens of stories and an intense six-week investigation, the U.S. soldier was found innocent on all charges and released.

In 2011, Preston received two Emmy nominations including "Best On-Camera Talent/Anchor" and "Best Investigative Report" for an exclusive investigation he pursued to keep a convicted child molester off the streets.

Preston was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and moved shortly after to Southern California, where he has lived most of his life.

Preston is (CIT) Crisis Intervention Certified and spends much of his time volunteering with people who have sustained traumatic brain injuries as well as mentoring young men and women in and out of state prisons and jails.

Preston is currently earning a second bachelor's degree in Geosciences/Meteorology from Mississippi State University.

In his spare time, Preston enjoys spending time with his wife Ariana, son McKinley and their Pomeranian, Nacho.
