Byron Miranda

Chief Meteorologist, 10News At 5, 10News At 6, 10News At 7 and 10News At 11

Byron Miranda is a seasoned meteorologist who has worked in major markets including Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago. He is a member of the National Weather Association and the winner of the 2003 Golden Mike award for “Best Weathercaster in Southern California.” His experience includes providing national and international weather perspective at CNN, CNN International and Weather Plus.

Byron grew up in California and is thrilled to be in San Diego, “I think this is a great place to call home,” he said.

“San Diego has the kind of weather anyone would love to live in,” Byron said, “but it really isn’t 70 degrees and sunny every day like many think. It is that complexity -- all those microclimates -- that I am drawn to as a meteorologist.”

Byron began his career not as a meteorologist but as an assignment editor in Oakland, Calif. Before he stepped before the cameras, however, he was an Oakland police officer and an air traffic controller in the U.S. Air Force.

Byron holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and has completed the Mississippi State University Broadcast Meteorology Program.
