Lauren Reynolds

Lauren has been a part of the 10News Team since 1996. Her calling is to provide people with information that helps them make better decisions about their own lives. Exposing fraud, shady dealings, dishonesty and taxpayer rip-offs is what makes her job meaningful.

Lauren has received 9 Emmy Awards, including Journalistic Enterprise, Investigative, Feature and Documentary reporting. Her expose on the history of whale captures and training at Sea World earned a Best in Show from the Society of Professional Journalists San Diego chapter as well as an Emmy and first place San Diego Press Club award. An I-Team audit of how well police departments respond to public records requests earned the Sol Price Prize for Responsible Journalism.

An investigative report on illegal baby car seats being rented out by a national car rental company earned 2nd place in the National Headliners Awards for Consumer Journalism. The report prompted the company to entirely change its procedure for baby car seat rentals.

Lauren has been awarded numerous first place prizes from the San Diego Press Club. Among her award winning stories; old World War Two bombs buried beneath San Diego neighborhoods, an investigation that exposed an error into the Orange County Court System which allowed a repeat offender off the hook for numerous repeat crimes, an investigation into people crossing the border illegally from "Countries of Special Interest" to the U.S. Government.

Some of her recent and most memorable stories include a 2-year investigation into street gang members and white supremacists in the U.S. military services. She and the I-Team also exposed how many settlements local police departments have been forced to pay due to officers who used excessive force. Lauren reported on the dire financial situation in the Medicare system, where costs for some procedures have jumped 820 percent.

Ms. Reynolds is a dedicated community volunteer who actively volunteers for charity events and serves as a mentor for students who wish to pursue a career in journalism. She lives in North San Diego County with her husband and two children.
