10News, KOGO Team Up For 'Fire Aid II'

Bucket Brigade' Raises Money For Fire Victims

10News and News Radio 600 KOGO are teaming up to help raise money for the victims of the last year's wild fires, 10News reported.

Fire Aid II: The Bucket Brigade will be on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Santee Trolley Square, on the foyer between Party City and Starbucks.

Listeners are encouraged to donate money at the bucket brigade and pick up information on fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and the after effects of the fire.

10News and KOGO are working with the San Diego Firestorm Community Recovery Team to provide relief to those who had inadequate insurance and fighting red tape to have their homes rebuilt. The San Diego Firestorm Community Recovery Team (CRT) was established after the last October wildfires to rebuild homes and restore lives. CRT's primary mission is to raise funds for building materials for elderly, at risk, and severely underinsured. CRT also runs resource centers to help survivors with building assistance, educational workshops, and emotional support. CRT efforts are only possible with generous contributions and reminding the public help is still needed.

Non-profit groups, agencies, and business are needed to set up booths and distribute information on safeguarding families homes, family, and assets in the event of a fire and on support groups and how to help victims and environment affected by the fires. Red Cross, San Diego Blood Bank, Santee Fire Station, and San Diego County of Mental Health have have tentatively committed to providing booths during Fire Aid II. Booths are responsible for their own canopy, table, and chairs. Set up time will be at 8:30 a.m. Booths will not be permitted to sell anything on site. If interested, please contact Melanie Saunders at (858) 715-3638.
