Whoosh. That's all I heard as a missile launched from Iraq tore through the night
sky near our hotel.
It would be one of several in a long and exhausting night of air raid sirens, hotel alarms and gas mask toting guests. The last time my heart was beating that fast was just after a confidence course run in boot camp. I
didn't like it then and didn't like it now.
This will probably be my final entry. Our two weeks here are nearly up. If the airport reopens, we should be on our way home shortly.
To those of you who responded on the Web site, I don't know how to say thank you enough for all your kind words and thoughts, and I couldn't be happier that some of you actually saw your loved ones in our stories, or at least saw his or her unit.
I wish we could have reached them all before things got started.
Again, thank you for all your support and can't wait to see San Diego.
