SAN DIEGO -- After a series of 10News I-Team investigations exposed the high price of court maintenance in California courthouses, the state's chief justice is creating a committee to watch the court's spending.According to information obtained by the I-Team, some of the court costs documented included $480 mouse traps, $370 light bulbs and $460 clocks. Throughout California courts, the I-Team found state court managers paying $120 for door stops, tens of thousands of dollars for new desks and hundreds of dollars to fix squeaky chairs that still squeak."It's been remarkably frustrating to see the abuses and wastes in the system and I'm glad they're doing something," San Diego Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher said.
The new oversight committee that will watch court spending is made up of active and retired judges, court executives and lawyers.
