SAN DIEGO -- 10News confronted a man accused of being a scammer and stealing millions of dollars from his victims on Friday.Several San Diego residents became victims of a pyramid scheme spreading across the country.Florida-based Robert Krimm is a self-proclaimed multimillion dollar CEO who ran at least a half-dozen autosurfing Web sites that some claim are pyramid schemes.
After shutting down the Web sites and leaving former members wondering when and if they would ever see their money again, Krimm has not been so forthcoming.10News’ sister station in Naples, Fla. finally tracked Krimm down at his new, 5,000-square foot home for an explanation.“We lost $18 million from people stealing, setting up fake accounts, doing fake upgrades,” said Krimm.Krimm claimed he was the victim. However, he still would not show his face for the interview.Krimm said he still plans to pay back all of the money he owes to his former members, but he could not tell reporters how much money he owed or to how many people. When asked about a timeline to repay everybody, Krimm reacted angrily.“We're working on it. I can't (expletive) money,” said Krimm.Krimm said people like former member and San Diegan Gerry Simoni were the problem. He claimed Simoni was hacking into the system and setting up fake upgrades.“I don't know what he is talking about as far as hacking something. That's just absolutely silly. It's another lie by the guy and at this point that's all were going to get out of Robert Krimm,” said Simoni.Krimm told reporters he would conduct a full interview with his attorney at a later date.He also said he would provide proof that he has begun the process of paying back his former members.
