SAN DIEGO - Authorities have reopened all lanes of the Coronado Bay Bridge after responding to an unspecified situation that prompted the shutdown in both directions.
The California Highway Patrol received a report of a multi-vehicle incident on the bridge at about 6:35 p.m. It was not noted the cause of the incident.
Shortly after, the CHP received a report that a person was possibly leaning over the side of the bridge.
Due to the reports, authorities ordered the shutdown of the bridge at the toll plaza. A long-term closure from northbound Interstate 5 to the bridge and southbound Interstate 5 to the bridge was ordered.
The CHP says San Diego Harbor Police units are in the water, and ground units, including a negotiating team, are being summoned.
