RIVERSIDE - Three officers were shot Thursday-- one in Corona and two in Riverside -- by a gunman believed to be Christopher Jordan Dorner, the fired Los Angeles Police Department Officer wanted for the revenge slayings of a college basketball coach and her fiance in Irvine, police said.
The shootouts occurred early this morning, said Riverside police Sgt. Troy Banks.
The lawman shot in Corona is an officer from the Los Angeles Police Department's Newton Station who suffered a graze wound, said Newton Station Sgt Ike Ornelas.
There was no immediate word on the status of the two officers shot in Riverside, but Southland law enforcement sources said the two are feared not to have fared as well as the Newton officer. And according to 10News sister station KABC, Riverside Police Department confirmed one of its officers was killed.
