Blood Bank Working To Protect Supply Against Parasite

The San Diego Blood Bank is working to protect our local blood supply from a deadly parasite, 10News reported.

Chagas is a disease spread by a blood-sucking insect that could erode internal tissues and cause organ failure.

The number of cases reported by the Red Cross has been rising, especially in the Los Angeles area where many donors have traveled to countries where the infection rate is high.
