Botox Makers Create New Wrinkle Eraser

Juvederm Can Keep Wrinkles Away For 9 Months

There's a new wrinkle eraser by the makers of Botox.

It's called Juvederm, and it could keep lines and wrinkles away up to nine months.

Juvederm is the next generation semi-permanent filler. It's a natural product that claims to smooth away wrinkles with its higher concentrations of a naturally occurring ingredient called hyaluronic acid.

"It's a complex carbohydrate, or sugar, that naturally occurs in our skin," said Dr. William Groff.

Hyaluronic acid, which creates volume and elasticity in the skin, is found in other fillers such as restylane, but the makers of Juvederm said they've refined the product.

"It's a very smooth, clear gel, so you are not seeing any of the clumps or bumps you see with some of the older fillers," said Groff.

Unlike many of the other fillers on the market, the makers of Juvederm said this filler may have more staying power, possibly lasting up to nine months.

"I am just going to plump up a little bit around my mouth," said Juvederm patient Valerie Hernandez.

Hernandez is looking for a longer lasting way to soften the deep wrinkles around her mouth.

"We are entering into the second layer of skin, and that's where we are implanting this temporary gel. What this gel will do is actually lift this depression of the crease and make it a more subtle crease," said Groff.

"I like it. It's totally filled in," said Hernandez.

After several injections, Hernandez said she thinks it takes at least two years off her face.
