Red Wine, Grapes And Heart Health

The benefits of red wine for your heart are well-known. Can you get the same benefits from other foods?

The heart-healthy benefits of wine come from a combination of phytochemicals in the grapes and the alcohol. While eating grapes won't duplicate the alcohol effect, red grapes are an excellent source of the phytochemicals that provide health benefits for the heart.

In addition to grapes, other red and purple fruits and vegetables like plums, currants, cherries and red cabbage provide benefits similar to red wine. Green tea also contains phytochemicals that are similar to those in wine.
