Families 'Think Pink' Despite Fire Devastation

Families Create Special Bond

This week marks the second anniversary of the Cedar and Paradise fires. When the fires roared through San Diego County, 2,400 homes were lost, 376,000 acres were burned and 17 people were killed.

But, five Scripps Ranch families who lost their homes in the Cedar Fire now have five reasons to celebrate. Within a year of the fire, five neighboring women all got pregnant with girls, bringing a pink lining to an otherwise dark moment in their lives, 10News reported.

The parents look forward to having the babies, named Hannah, Analise, Bridget, Emily and Grace, grow up together.

"It's gonna be fun having them grow up together and (tell them) about how they all met," said Scripps Ranch resident Belle Drouin.

According to 10News, the families feel fortunate to have had each other over the past two years.

Brons Larson, another Scripps Ranch resident, said, "It started out as a bond because of the fire and now it's grown into a true friendship."

Less than a year old, no one could expect these little ones to understand their common bond. But, it's a bond that continues to bring them and their families closer together.
