RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. -- A horse that survived the last year's Cedar Fire has been reunited with the people who saved his life.
Yankee had burns over 30 percent of his body and Thursday he visited the Helen Woodward Animal Center's Equine Hospital.
Animal experts nursed Yankee back to health and paid his medical bills.Yankee's owner, Carol Casbier, said the horse's spirit has returned."I rode him yesterday and he's still full of it. When I hand walk him, he always behaves and he still stops traffic," Casbier said. The San Diego County sheriff's department and animal advocate, Joan Embrey, will launch an education campaign for horse owners who live in fire zones.
