SAN DIEGO -- People celebrated Thursday the completion of the first multifamily housing project to be rebuilt after the Cedar Fire in Tierrasanta, 10News reported.

City officials and firefighters joined the residents at the opening of the Belserra Complex on Portobelo Drive.

Three families are moving back into their homes, 10News reported.

Carol Bolton has been living in hotels and with family members ever since the fire.

"I have finally started smiling for the first time in a year," Bolton told 10News.

Sixty homes in Tierrasanta were destroyed during the Cedar Fire, 20 others were damaged and 18,000 people were evacuated.
