Wal-Mart Donates $50K For Fire Equipment
Store Donates $750K Since Wildfires

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego City Council accepted Tuesday a $50,000 donation from Wal-Mart to buy breathing equipment for the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.The money will be used to acquire rapid intervention crew kits, devices equipped with a one-hour air supply, which aid firefighters in performing rescues."Protecting our citizens is vital, but we must also equip our firefighters to protect themselves," said San Diego Mayor Dick Murphy.
Wal-Mart has donated about $750,000 to the region for fire protection since the October wildfires, Murphy said.
