SAN DIEGO -- Residents of Crest are getting a little extra help as they rebuild their homes after the devastation of the Cedar Fire, 10News reported.
Those who lost their homes were given supplies Monday ranging from wheelbarrows to shovels, rakes, and other tools. The supplies were delivered to a church in Crest by volunteers from St. Vincent De Paul's Village.
Community members said the more help they have, the faster they can rebuild.Pastor Robert Irwin said, "This is really helping us with the next phase here in Crest because initially it was just survival. Now it's the rebuilding of their homes and their families. The tools are helping with that," Irwin said.Ray Curry, a fire victim who lives in Crest, said, "We're not homeless. We're houseless. Once we rebuild, we're going to have a house cooling party -- we don't want any house warming parties."Much of the supplies were purchased through a donation from Home Depot directed specifically towards the fire outreach effort.
