North County Mom Featured On 'Wife Swap'

Escondido Mom Swaps With South Carolina Mom

A North County family learns what it's like to live another family's life on national TV.

"We weren't used to having these cameras in our faces," said daughter Ragan Grimes.

The ABC show "Wife Swap" featured organized, stay-at-home mom Lori Grimes from Escondido.

Lori is active with her children's musical theatre and their lives and swaps with an unorganized, South Carolina mother for two weeks.

The idea of the show is for the families to discover what it's like to live each other's lives and maybe learn some lessons along the way.

"We learned how much we love each other (and) what we're doing in our family is good for us," said Lori.

The Grimes say they also realize reality TV isn't really reality at all.

"It was emotionally charged," said husband Doug Grimes.

"It was an experience not too many people ever have (and) we got a little chunk of change, too," said Lori.

Mostly, they say they learned about love.

"The biggest thing is we missed our mom," said son Miles Grimes.
