2008 Captain Mike Memorial Toy Drive A Success
Started 35 years ago by late 10News weatherman "Captain" Mike Ambrose, who understood the power of giving back – the 10News Toy Drive has handed out millions of toys. This was an important year for San Diegans to come through for the community and once again, your generosity was impressive!Approximately 7,000 toys were collected through the 2008 Captain Mike Memorial Toy Drive!On December 5th we invited you to the 10News studios for a special drop-off day with extended hours. Over 3,000 toys were collected on this one day!
Then, on December 17th, hundreds of San Diegans brought their toy donation to the Jingle Bell Kroc Christmas Festival benefiting the 2008 Captain Mike Memorial Toy Drive. They enjoyed free ice skating, a Holiday Ice Show, a visit from Santa, cookie decorating, hot chocolate and games! The entire event was free for Toy Drive participants.All toys collected through the toy drive went to the Salvation Army for deserving families.Thank you for making a difference this year, San Diego!
