Roberto Alcaraz Garnica charged in altercation at Beyonce-Jay Z concert in Pasadena

Garnica accused of biting off man's fingertip

PASADENA, Calif. - Criminal charges were filed Tuesday against a San Diego man who allegedly bit off a fellow concertgoer's fingertip during a weekend confrontation at the Beyonce-Jay Z show at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.

Roberto Alcaraz Garnica, 25, pleaded not guilty to one felony count each of mayhem and battery with serious bodily injury, along with a misdemeanor battery count.

Garnica is accused of pushing a woman into some chairs at Saturday's concert, then punching the woman's husband after he confronted Garnica. During the fight that ensued, Garnica allegedly bit off the tip of the man's left index finger.

Garnica -- who was arrested late Saturday by Pasadena police -- was ordered to remain jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.

He is due back in a Pasadena courtroom Aug. 19, when a date is scheduled to be set for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to require him to stand trial.

If convicted as charged, he could face a maximum of eight years in state prison, according to the District Attorney's Office.
