SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Police say a man sorting trash at a Southern California recycling center made a grisly discovery: a decomposing human foot.
Authorities say the severed foot was found in a trash bag as it went down a conveyor belt Tuesday afternoon at Burrtec Waste Industries in San Bernardino.
The ankle was attached to the foot. Another worker found a piece of flesh farther down the conveyor belt.
Police say there may be other remains and they're searching the facility.
Authorities say it's unclear how long the foot had been in the bag or where it came from. The recycling center receives trash from all around San Bernardino County.
Police are treating the discovery as a death investigation.
