California Highway Patrol officers rescued a Chihuahua stuck on the center divider of a Northern California freeway on Friday.
The rescue occurred on Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek during rush hour.
CHP Contra Costa posted a photo to Twitter which shows the dog perched on the freeway median. It is unclear how the dog got there.
KTVU-TV reports an officer used pieces of a protein bar to coax the dog closer so he could pick it up and take it to safety.
Contra Costa Animal Services says the dog is recovering at their shelter in Martinez, Calif.
Many users on social media thanked the officer and some even offered to adopt the dog.
