Professor Wrestling: The Big Winners

Listen up!

Class is in session.

This week, more "WrestleMania 21" thoughts and a nod to the students who correctly predicted what would happen on the big card.

The Matches
Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero: Cruiserweights as curtain-jerkers was a pretty good idea, but I was looking for a slightly better match. Eddie lost cleanly, but it wasn't nearly as fun as it should have been. Eddie seems depressed. Chavo should have been in the mix somehow.

Money-In-The Bank Ladder Match: Edge wins? Why? Why not someone with a ton more charisma? Someone like Captain Charisma, Christian. Sure, Edge-Batista down the road might be OK, but at some point Vince has to see what Christian can do at the top of the card.

Undertaker vs. Randy Orton: I loved this match for some reason. The right guy won (Undertaker), we got to see Orton's dad interfere with that goofy cast and the Legend Killer was foiled. By the way, Orton is way more entertaining as a heel than a babyface. He's got that certain smarm.

Trish Stratus vs. Christy Hemme: Forgettable and short. Perfect.

Big Show vs. Akebono: Forgettable and short. Even more perfect. And I never want to see Paul Wight in a diaper again.

Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels: Hands down, the best match on the card. Either man could and should have a title run this year, especially Michaels. He just works too hard. As for Angle, once again he proves he's the real total package.

John Cena vs. JBL: This one upset me the most. Cena simply isn't someone I'm going to go out of my way to see in an arena or on pay-per-view. JBL, on the other hand, is great heel I've enjoyed over the past several months. He should have kept his WWE belt.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. Dave Batista: Hunter bled heavily, which added to the spectacle of this match. I'm not sure Batista is the right choice as world champ, but Triple H was getting a bit dull. For my money, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero are better champions. Smaller, but better workers. In this day and age, the champs must move in the ring. Batista has a ways to go. Nice look, getting better on the mic, but still not your best grappler.

The Contest
Enough from me. Now it's all about you. As in, the winner of our "WrestleMania 21" contest. Out of hundreds of entries, only THREE students picked all seven matches correctly! They are: Ed Harris, Leonard Baucom and Floyd Johnson. Way to go!

But there can only be one winner. No ties here. Sorry about that. So I had Professor Junior pick a name out of a hat and ... Floyd Johnson gets the prize. For his efforts, he'll be mailed a special edition DVD of "WrestleMania 20" ASAP. Again, thanks to everyone for taking time out to send in an e-mail.

That's it.

Class dismissed!

(Professor Wrestling is a masked employee of Internet Broadcasting Systems. He sat for four solid hours without moving during "WrestleMania 21." That's dedication.)
