SAN DIEGO -- A female cast member of MTV's "Real World" pleaded no contest Thursday to misdemeanor fighting in public for assaulting a 29-year-old Marine at a Pacific Beach bar last summer.

Robin Michelle Hibbard, 23, was in the courtroom before Judge Theodore Weathers took the bench, but was gone by the time attorney Jeremiah J. Sullivan entered the plea for her. MTV filmed the proceedings.

In a Sept. 24 letter to the court, "Real World" Supervising Producer Kevin Lee said Hibbard "agreed to have her entire life filmed by our crew."

"This event is an excellent opportunity for millions of young viewers who have never seen the inside of a courtroom to get an idea of how the judicial system really works," Lee wrote.

Hibbard was placed on three years unsupervised probation and given credit for a day in jail.

If she successfully completes a year on probation, Hibbard can apply for reduction of the misdemeanor conviction to an infraction, or she may try to get the matter removed from her record altogether, said Deputy City Attorney Patty Herian.

Derek Porter told police he and some friends were waiting in line at the entrance to Moondoggie's Bar at about 11 p.m. on Sept. 2 when Hibbard and some friends approached with a camera and began videotaping those in line.

Hibbard and Porter started arguing and Hibbard punched Porter in the arm before being pulled away, police said.

The defendant returned a short time later and apologized to Porter, who turned his back and told her to go away. Hibbard then scratched the Marine on the back and neck, police said.

Police found Hibbard at another bar, where she was arrested, authorities said. Her no-contest plea is essentially the same as a guilty plea in a criminal proceeding.

Adam King, a member of the "Real World" cast of Paris episodes now airing on MTV, was arrested Aug. 18 in Georgia on suspicion of loitering and public drunkenness.
