Cameras rolled and snapped Wednesday as the Academy of Motion Picture Science's accounting firm mailed Oscar ballots.

Completed ballots must be returned to PricewaterhouseCoopers by 5 p.m. PT on Feb. 17, the Academy said. Ballots received after the deadline will not be counted.

Listed on the ballots are nominees in 19 Awards categories. Separate ballots for 5 categories (Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Foreign Language Film, Animated Short Film and Live Action Short Film) will be distributed after verification of mandatory member attendance at screenings.

For those keeping track, the films in the running for Best Picture this year are "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Frost/Nixon," "Milk," "The Reader" and "Slumdog Millionaire."

The final ballots are going out to the nearly 6,000 members of the Academy. They're due back at the accounting firm Feb. 17.

The Oscars will be presented Feb. 22. "X-Men" star and Tony winner Hugh Jackman will host.
