Professor Wrestling: 'Survivor Series' Results
Cena Returns In WWE PPV

UPDATED: 9:25 pm PST November 23, 2008
Listen up!Class is in session.WWE's "Survivor Series" is history, with John Cena coming off an injury to appear in the main event. How did he fare against Chris Jericho? And how did Triple H do against Vladimir Kozlov and Jeff Hardy in their triple-threat match? Those answers in a few minutes, but first -- my sterling, golden picks for the rest of the card:
'Survivor Series' Match: "Smackdown!" Divas vs. "Raw" Divas
What Should Happen: This is a 5-on-5 affair. A team wins when the other team is eliminated one-by-one. You know how it works. Anyway, this silicon-filled turkey pits Beth Phoenix, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Candice Michelle and Jillian versus Michelle McCool, Maria, Maryse, Victoria and Natalya. My money is on Ms. Phoenix to be standing at the end – despite her own team turning on her.
What Will Happen: Team "Raw" will take it.
What Did Happen: Ms. Pheonix was indeed the last one standing, as she pinned Maryse.
'Survior Series' Match: Team Batista vs. Team Orton
What Should Happen: This slobberknocker has Batista, C.M. Punk, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, and Matt Hardy taking on the team of Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, William Regal, Mark Henry, and Shelton Benjamin. Here, I really don't see the heels getting along all that well, which bodes just fine for Team Batista. R-Truth and Mark Henry remain a waste of space to me, by they way.
What Will Happen: Team Batista will win.
What Did Happen: Orton pinned Batista to give his team the victory.
'Survivor Series' Match: Team Michaels vs. Team JBL
What Should Happen: Here, it's Shawn Michaels, Cryme Tyme, Rey Mysterio and The Great Khali against the team of JBL, Miz, John Morrison, MVP and Kane. Notice that Khali is one of the good guys? How did that happen? Oh, that's right. Kiss Cam. Wonders never cease. As for the match, there's no way the good guys can lose.
What Will Happen: Go with Team Shawn, kids.
What Did Happen: Team Shawn won it, as Michaels pinned Morrison to end it.
Casket Match: Big Show vs. Undertaker
What Should Happen: In the past two PPV's, each legend has a victory apiece against each other. This is the rubber match, and there's really no way UT would/should lose his signature contest.
What Will Happen: Bet your entire 401k -- or what's left of it -– on the Deadman.
What Did Happen: The Big Show was tossed into a second casket brought out by a bunch of UT druids. Odd, but UT won.
WWE Championship Match: Triple H (c) vs. Vladimir Kozlov
What Should Happen: This match became a triple-threat affair after Jeff Hardy beat Trips on "Smackdown!" Friday night. But Hardy was injured before the PPV and didn't show -- until the middle of the match. Edge also showed up out of nowhere. While I want to see what WWE would look like with Hardy as champion, I don't think it will ever happen. Vince McMahon already has a cruiserweight with gold, and his name is Chris Jericho. Kozlov hasn't been around long enough to deserve the belt, but I do like his look. That leaves it to Mr. Stephanie McMahon, who will likely keep his strap for a few more months.
What Will Happen: Triple H survives another challenge to his crown.
What Did Happen: As mentioned above, Edge came back. Somehow he was added to the contest -- even though Hardy managed to show up, too. In the end, a newly-bearded Edge won. What?
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Chris Jericho (c) vs. John Cena
What Should Happen: I don't think Cena deserves this shot right now. You don't get a title match the first time in the ring after a serious injury – it doesn't make sense. He has to earn it. It's also a bit of a slap in the face to Jericho, who isn't being trusted to carry the promotion on his shoulders. I would have preferred to see Michaels in this match. Like Jeff Hardy, I'd like to see him with a title run.
What Will Happen: Jericho will find a way to beat the returning Cena.
What Did Happen: WWE gave the belt to Cena. What a dumb move.
That’ll do it. After viewing the final results, aren't you convinced more than ever that I'm a genius? I mean, I was right for HALF of this PPV. The glass was half-full. I batted .500. In baseball, that's Hall Of Fame. Aren't you proud of your professor? Thankful, on this week of being thankful? Well, you should be. If you know what's good for you.Quietly leave the apple and scram, because this class is … dismissed!(Professor Wrestling is a masked employee of Internet Broadcasting, hailing from Parts Unknown.
