Network Dismisses New Seinfeld Sitcom Report

NBC, Comic's Publicist Say NY Post Report False

POSTED: 1:07 pm PST March 7, 2008

There's nothing to a report that Jerry Seinfeld is negotiating a return to NBC, according to the network.

NBC and Jerry Seinfeld Friday shot down a New York Post report that claimed the comic was in talks with the network about a new sitcom.

The report, citing no sources, said Seinfeld would play himself in a New York series similar to "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

"There's nothing to it," NBC spokeswoman Rebecca Marks said Friday.

Seinfeld's spokeswoman, Elizabeth Clark Zoia, also said the story was completely false.

"We appreciate the enthusiasm, however," Clark Zoia said.

Seinfeld's latest project, the animated feature film, "Bee Movie," debuted in theaters in November.

The comic voiced the lead role in the film and co-wrote the script.
