Candidates Rally For Turnout Before Election

Carly Fiorina, Meg Whitman Made Stops In San Diego On Saturday

As the Nov. 2 election draws near, the underdogs in two major races are willing to do what it takes in the final stretch to come out on top.

Hundreds of campaign volunteers on Saturday went door to door to make sure as much of San Diego County turns out to vote.

Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina stopped by the Republican headquarters in San Diego Saturday and served pancakes to volunteers. Her stop in San Diego was one of four stops around the state Saturday to thank and rally volunteers in the final three days before elections.

"Who ever gets out the most votes wins," said Fiorina, who is up against Democrat Barbara Boxer, who has been in Washington for 28 years. "Every single poll has shown -- for about a year -- that Barbara Boxer cannot get above 45 percent of the vote and you don't win with 45 percent of the vote... We are going to run hard for the next three days and on Nov. 2, we are going to win this race."

Republican candidate for governor Meg Whitman and her camp are in overdrive also, making a stop at a rally in Vista on Saturday. While there is not much decision-making left for voters, the Republican underdogs are focusing on one word over the next 72 hours: turnout.

Both Whitman and Fiorina are trailing their opponents between 3 and 5 percent in the latest polls.
