SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State University students are coming back from spring break with a new identification system in place, 10News reported.
With the new "Red ID" students and faculty will have nine-digit PINs in place of their Social Security numbers.
The change comes after the university discovered that 178,000 names and Social Security numbers may have been accessed by computer hackers last year. Those affected will be notified by mail.
