SAN DIEGO -- The Buck still hasn't stopped at City HallDisregard for the law. Fraudulent misrepresentation. Negligence. The recent Kroll report confirmed that the road to San Diego's current fiscal crisis was paved with unlawful deals, government failures and disregard for the financial welfare of the city's residents.
Everyone from ex-mayors to former and current council members were named as contributing to the mess. But 10News says one conclusion from the report is the most surprising to us.No one is held personally accountable for any of the serious violations of the law.Instead, the report says city officials "fell prey" to a culture of corruption. In other words, they broke the law but so did others around them so no one should be held criminally accountable.10News says that logic that got us into this mess!We call on City Attorney Mike Aguirre to hold our elected officials to the same level of accountability as anyone who breaks the law. Pursue this billion dollar fraud as any prosecutor would. Put the lawbreakers in jail where they belong. That's our opinion. What's yours?
