10News Editorial: UCSD SRTV Censorship
Airdates: Mar. 3, 4
Some students at UCSD have a lot to learn. The student-run television station at UCSD has been off the air since last year. That's after airing explicit sex scenes. The university's administration says SRTV won't be back until a review panel is set up to make sure pornography is not distributed on campus. After all, the university owns the cable network and is responsible for what does or does not air. But SRTV Station Manager Andy Tess calls that censorship and a lawsuit may follow. 10News says it's time for Tess and other UCSD students to learn the facts of life. We applaud the university's firm stance and call on Tess to act responsibly. Participate in the review process, then get back on the air. In the real world, there are rules, policies and procedures. That's not censorship, it's good citizenship. That's our opinion, what's yours?
