Oklahoma: Cash For Appliances Rebate Program

Eligible Appliances, Brand And Model Numbers, Recycling And Rebate Information In Oklahoma

POSTED: 1:53 pm PDT October 19, 2009
UPDATED: 1:25 pm PST March 2, 2010

Oklahoma is planning a mail-in rebate program this spring to help residents replace older, inefficient appliances with new energy-efficient appliances.

The state estimates approximately 23,000 rebates for Energy Star appliances will be awarded through the plan.

The appliances and rebate levels are as follows:
  • Clothes washers - $200
  • Refrigerators - $200
  • Room air conditioners - $50
  • Water heaters - $100
  • Central air conditioners - $100
  • Gas furnaces - $100
  • Ground source heat pumps - $250

Rebates are scheduled to begin April 22 and will continue until funds are depleted. Appliances bought prior to the official start date will not qualify for the rebate.

There is a maximum of one rebate per appliance and two rebates per household.

Consumers must provide proof of proper disposal of the old unit to obtain a rebate. Oklahoma encourages consumers to recycle old appliances.

The program is one of 56 State Energy-Efficient Appliance Rebate Programs, popularly known as Cash for Appliances, that are being set up in the United States and six U.S. territories with the help of federal stimulus money.

Oklahoma will receive about $3.5 million of the nearly $300 million in stimulus funding available nationwide from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
