POSTED: 1:48 pm PDT October 19, 2009
UPDATED: 2:40 pm PDT July 1, 2010

North Dakota's rebate program to help residents replace older, inefficient refrigerators with new Energy Star models is now closed.

The state offered $150 mail-in rebates for full size refrigerators with the replacement of an old full size refrigerator starting April 6. Rebate reservations closed on May 13, however, consumers can join a waitlist in the event additional funds become available.

Rebates are limited to one refrigerator per applicant and one per household. Refrigerators must be 7.75 cubic feet or larger to qualify.

The program was one of 56 State Energy-Efficient Appliance Rebate Programs, popularly known as Cash for Appliances, that were set up in the United States and six U.S. territories with the help of federal stimulus money.

North Dakota received $615,000 of the nearly $300 million in stimulus funding available nationwide from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

For more information on the Cash for Appliances program, visit the North Dakota Department of Commerce Web site or call 701-328-5300.
