A former employee with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department who is now a prominent certified public accountant is being sued for $50 million, 10News' Charisse Yu reported.

Escondido resident Mary Arathoon said she was sexually assaulted by the man she worked for her in a CPA office, and she also thinks she's not the only victim.

Arathoon and her husband have been married for more than 20 years and they also work together.

Mary Arathoon was her husband's assistant when they worked at the Dunlap, Dunlap & Peck firm in Escondido.

However, it was only recently did she inform her husband about what happened inside the office.

"It went on and on, and it was just a living hell," said Arathoon.

She said she was groped over a six-year period.

"When I finally did tell my husband, it was the day that he gave notice that he was leaving and I felt I could then say it," said Arathoon.

According to a complaint filed in Superior Court, Michael Dunlap -- a partner in the firm -- is accused of sexually assaulting Arathoon.

"One time, he cornered me in an elevator and he went under my dress," said Arathoon. "He stuck his tongue in my ears and said lewd things to me."

Yu asked Arathoon why it took her so long to come forward.

"How come you let it go on for so long?" asked Yu.

"I was so humiliated and I was afraid, and I know he used to be a policeman," said Arathoon.

In a court complaint obtained by 10News, Dunlap is accused of reaching down Arathoon's bra, exposing his genitals to her and forcing her hand against him. Arathoon also said other people who worked for him told her they had similar experiences with Dunlap.

She said Dunlap overstepped his boundaries.

"I thought I could handle it but it just kept getting worse," said Arathoon.

She said she hopes sharing her story will help other victims come forward.

10News visited Dunlap at his office, but he did not offer a comment on the story.

Dunlap's attorney said his client denies the allegations and they look forward to their day in court.
