Kent State got on the scoreboard just 3:24 into the game when Keith hit Jonathan Simpson with a one-yard scoring pass. The 38-yard drive was set up by an Eagles fumble.

Joe Carithers opened the scoring for EMU with a 30-yard field goal with 8:28 left in the first period.

KSU responded moments later when Keith found Tyshon Goode with a 48-yard touchdown pass on the next play from scrimmage to make it 14-3 with 8:09 left in the opening quarter.

Carithers added a 25-yard field goal with 3:31 remaining in the period to make it 14-6.

Keith extended the Kent State lead when he scored from a yard out with 5:45 left in the third quarter.

Leneric Muldrow hooked up with Kendrick Pressley on a 31-yard touchdown throw with 8:40 left in the game to complete the scoring.
