NCAA Game Summary - Wyoming At Air Force

POSTED: 3:42 pm PDT October 17, 2009

(Sports Network) - Jared Tew ran for 105 yards and a touchdown and the Air Force defense did the rest, as the Falcons blanked the Wyoming Cowboys, 10-0, in Mountain West Conference action at Falcon Stadium.

Air Force (4-3, 3-1 MWC) gained 269 yards on the ground, while recording its first shutout over a conference opponent since blanking Colorado State 24-0 in 1997.

Wyoming (4-3, 2-1) saw its three-game win streak come to an end, as it managed just 174 yards of total offense. The Cowboys had averaged over 32 points per game since Austyn Carta-Samuels took over at quarterback, but the true freshman was held in check today, converting only 14-of-31 tosses for 74 yards and an interception.

Neither team scored in the opening half, as the squads combined for 12 penalties.

Air Force scored the first points of the game on a 29-yard field goal by Erik Soderberg late in the third quarter.

The Falcons added to their lead with a 17-yard touchdown run by Tew early in the fourth quarter and the defense made it stand.

Air Force snapped a two-game slide and in the process extended its winning streak over Wyoming to four.
