Pullman, WA -- (Sports Network) - Klay Thompson tallied a game-high 24 points and the Washington State Cougars defeated the Eastern Washington Eagles, 67-61, in non-conference play at Friel Court in Pullman. Thompson ended the night with six boards, while going 3-of-5 from three-point range and 9-of-14 at the charity stripe. DeAngelo Casto contributed 16 points and five boards for WSU (2-0), while Reggie Moore had 15 points. Mark Dunn came off the bench and put forth 17 points and six rebounds to guide EWU (0-2) in the loss. Glen Dean chipped in 11 points, and Brandon Moore registered a double-double with 10 points and 13 boards in the losing effort. The Cougars went 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and 9-of-13 at the foul line in the opening half, taking a 30-25 lead to the break. In the second frame, WSU shot 42.9 percent from the floor and used 11 free throws to secure the six-point victory. The Cougars forced the Eagles into 14 turnovers on the night, while committing just seven themselves.
