NCAA Game Summary - IUPUI Vs. Arizona State

Phoenix, AZ -- (Sports Network) - Rihards Kuksiks scored 18 points and added nine rebounds, as the 20th-ranked Arizona State Sun Devils defeated the IUPUI Jaguars, 59-58, in overtime. Jeff Pendergraph and Derek Glasser each had a basket in overtime, as both players finished with 10 points, with Pendergraph adding 11 rebounds and Glasser five assists, for the Sun Devils (8-1), who have won four straight. Alex Young and Gary Patterson each had 19 points for the Jaguars (5-4), who have dropped their last two after a four-game winning streak. Pendergraph gave Arizona State the lead on a basket with 2:43 to play in overtime and, after Patterson's three points gave IUPUI the lead back, Glasser later put in a basket to again give the Sun Devils the lead. Arizona State turned the ball over on its last touch, but Young missed a three-pointer at the buzzer as the Sun Devils held on for the win. Trailing by 12 points with around nine minutes to play in the second half, the Sun Devils ripped off a 15-3 run, and Kuksiks' three-pointer with 2:04 to go tied the game at 55-55, and neither team got any more points before the game headed to overtime. Thanks to 31.8 percent shooting and seven turnovers by the Sun Devils, the Jaguars held a 34-18 lead after the first 20 minutes of play and continued to lead for much of the second half before the late run by Arizona State.Game Notes:Arizona State hosts BYU on Saturday...This was the first-ever meeting between these teams...Ty Abbott had 12 points for Arizona State...IUPUI shot 47.8 percent compared to 42.6 percent shooting for Arizona State...The Sun Devils outrebounded the Jaguars, 31-24.
