SAN DIEGO -- The most extensive collection of automobiles to ever go to auction in San Diego is up for bid, 10News reported.
John Rose, of Rose Toyota, had a passion for automobiles, and for more than 50 years he sought out cars and trucks of every make, model and condition. From a 1966 330 Ferrari GT, to one of the first Toyota sedans ever made -- all are up for auction. Rose died one year ago and his sons, John Jr. and Byron, said a lot of sentimental value will be auctioned off as well. "Like my mom says, 'Let it go. It's time to let some others have some fun. Release them into the universe and let some other people enjoy these cars,' " Byron Rose said. Fifty years of collecting not only resulted in a lot of cars, but a lot of car parts. Those too will be up for auction -- everything from hubcaps to carburetors. "There is approximately 55 fully restored cars that are ready to go and about 155 project cars that, with some TLC, a few hours and a few dollars, could be very nice cars," auctioneer Ken McCormack said. The auction will take place July 10-11 at 1601 Precision Park Lane in San Ysidro. You can preview the cars on July 8-9 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Click here for more auction information.
