10News reporter Mitch Blacher receives Broadcast Media Watchdog award

The San Diego County Taxpayers Association has recognized Mitch Blacher, investigative reporter for KGTV, with its Broadcast Media Watchdog award at its 18th annual Golden Fleece and Watchdog awards dinner May 9, 2013.

KGTV 10News is the Scripps-owned ABC affiliate in San Diego.

Blacher earned the honor for his story, “Metropolitan Water District Spending Questioned."  Media Watchdog Awards honor journalists who uncover poor governance and wasteful public spending practices.

Golden Watchdog Awards recognize and honor smart, sensible practices and taxpayer-funded programs. Golden Fleeces shine a light on wasteful, inefficient or downright absurd use of taxpayer dollars – and the bad attitudes that sometimes lead to bad decisions. The Public-Private Partnership Award recognizes collaborative efforts to stretch taxpayer dollars.
