Lee Ann Kim

I can hardly believe I've been working at KGTV for the last decade! This March, I celebrated by 10th anniversary with 10News. I'm also celebrating a number of other things including hosting our brand new program called 10-4 San Diego, but most importantly the birth of my son, Weston.

As a new mother, I have learned to appreciate the hard work of my own dear mother who raised four girls (I'm the oldest) with my father, an OB/GYN in Chicago. As immigrants from South Korea, my parents always emphasized the importance of working hard, and preserving our Korean heritage while assimilating into America. I learned most of my English from shows like Sesame Street, Electric Company, and Zoom.

While growing up, I was keenly aware of the lack of Asian Americans on television. Sure, there was Pat Morita on Happy Days, and of course, Bruce Lee, but there were few Asian American role models that I could relate to. That's why my family proudly and religiously watched Chicago anchorwoman Linda Yu (WLS - the ABC affiliate), who gave us the news in a commanding voice and presence. Little did I know her influence would help me pursue the same career!

During my senior year at the University of Maryland, I became a bureau reporter for four Washington D.C. area radio stations, covering Maryland state politics in Annapolis. Then in 1993, I landed my first TV job at the nation's first all-news broadcast station, KNWS in Houston, TX. From there, I moved to the Deep South to become the main anchor at the CBS station in Tuscaloosa, AL (Roll Tide, Roll!). My next stop was at the NBC station in Springfield, MO, where I became the first person of color to anchor the news in the Ozarks. A year later, I got the offer from San Diego, and here I am!

I count my blessings everyday that I live and work in a beautiful community like San Diego. My husband, Louis Song, and I have certainly made this our home. We are proud parents to a biological son (Weston, who was born July 2005), and we are in the process of adopting a second son from South Korea. His name is Samuel, and he was born February of this year! We also have a sweet dog, Pepe Le Pew, that we adopted from the animal shelter in Linda Vista.

My passion for work, community, and family is extended to the San Diego Asian Film Festival, which I started in 2000. Similar to what I do in the news to inform viewers, the San Diego Asian Film Festival helps bridge cultures, fosters important discourse, and connects people through the power of film. Steve Atkinson

I took a walk on the beach after work the other night and got a chance to watch the sunset. After a busy week of work, I guess it finally hit me as I stood there mesmerized that San Diego is now my home. This dose of reality was only moments after I had just purchased my first pair of sandals with a bottle opener built right in the sole. Is this a great town or what!

I have had a few stops in my career along the way the latest of which was Denver, Colorado with KCNC-TV. Before that I was with WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas. Before that, I was with KVUE-TV in Austin, Texas, and I started my career in Fort Smith, Arkansas. I have learned so much along the way but making KGTV in San Diego my new home will be my most exciting challenge.

I have spent the last 16 years working in television sports but felt it was time for a change. 10-4 San Diego is the perfect transition for me. This new and exciting show will be the best of the best of what San Diego has to offer. And I think most San Diegans know as well as other who visit this city understand this town has so much to offer.

In fact, when I told people I was moving to San Diego their eyes would go wide with joy. Not like the wide with shock or stunned look you get when you mention to someone that you are moving to Cleveland or Detroit. Nothing against you guys in Cleveland or Detroit but let's face it, your sunsets can't compete with ours here in beautiful San Diego.

My beautiful wife, Katherine, and my two children Veronica and Christopher are excited to make the move with me. We have family here in San Diego and have often thought after visits that this would be a great place to live. I guess dreams do come true.

I'm looking forward to the opportunity of starting a new show and I'm looking forward to meeting so many of you in the future. This show is for and about San Diegans. So if you ever have any suggestions or think you could be part of our 10-4 San Diego family please send me an email at Steve_Atkinson@10News.com.

Kerstin Lindquist

10-4 reporter Kerstin Lindquist is always looking for something fun, outrageous and very San Diego!

An Orange County California native, she graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA with a degree in Government and Environmental science.

After spending some time in Los Angeles at KTLA she moved to the Central Coast and became the weekend reporter for the local NBC affiliate.

In November of 2003, she made the move to the CBS/Fox station where she spent a year anchoring, reporting and producing.

Most recently Kerstin has been the weekend anchor, weekday weather anchor and reporter for NBC in Las Vegas.

She has also guest starred in prime time programs such as "The West Wing" playing, of course, a TV anchor.

Kerstin and her husband Daniel love to travel and are avid sailors.

They enjoy spending time with their English Bulldogs "Pumpkin" and "Gourdie."

Kerstin is also a fitness instructor.

If you have a story suggestion, please e-mail me at Kerstin_Lindquist@10News.com.
